Year 2023 marked major advances in the fight against malaria: RTS,S/AS01 vaccine showed a 13% reduction in early childhood in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi. In October 2023, a second safe and effective malaria vaccine, R21 in Matrix M adjuvant, received WHO recommendation.
