This is the fundamental problem that’s created a housing crisis in this country. Aging homeowners (NIMBYS) electing local politicians to block housing development thus limiting supply that doesn’t meet demand, driving up prices. The political incentives are backwards!

My in-laws have been in Midway for generations and they always say: everyone wants to shut the door behind them. They sell their homes in wealthy coastal cities, buy a mansion in rural Utah, and then want to obstruct everyone else from doing the same.

I pay property taxes so if my house catches fire the fire department shows up or if it’s burglarized the police come. I also want to access my property on well maintained roads that are plowed in the winter and a working storm water system to prevent floods. Oh, and parks nearby.
Property taxes mean you never actually own your property. If the state can take it away at any time, it isn't really yours. DeSantis is on point here.

I, along with others who respect Utah’s constitution, am livid that a judge would pick a map rather than remand it back to the legislature. Yes, it should be appealed but I don’t think impeachment is the best course. The focus should be to pass the initiative to reverse prop 4!

The Utah Constitution clearly states that it is the responsibility of the Legislature to divide the state into congressional districts. While I respect the Court’s role in our system, no judge, and certainly no advocacy group, can usurp that constitutional authority. For this

Comparing the services provided by @SLCoGov for the taxes paid vs municipal services, cities provide a much better bang for the buck. I hope the @SLCo_Council rejects this increase.
