After issuing his second walk of the inning, to 2B Jeron Williams, and seeing CF Nick Morabito reach due to catcher interference, Trevor Kuncl had to face Kevin McGonigle with the tying run on second base. He locked in, striking him out on three pitches to preserve a 4-3 win.

After a leadoff walk and a pair of wild pitches in the bottom of the 9th, 1B Parks Harber stepped into the box with a runner on third base and one out. He smoked a 108.9 mph ground ball to SS Brandon Winokur, drawing to within one run, 4-3. Bases empty. Two outs.

With one out in the bottom of the 6th inning, Scorpions designated hitter Seaver King drove in Max Anderson with a line drive to right field (one of his three BBEs over 97 mph) but was stranded in scoring position after stealing second base.

Two batters later Cam Collier singled to left field, driving in a pair of runs to extend the Peoria lead to 4-1. Playing first base for the Javelinas, Collier chipped in with some solid defensive work as well.

With the bases loaded in the top of the 3rd inning, Jonny Farmelo checked in with his own 100+ mph batted ball event. A 103.8 mph, 399-foot sacrifice fly to center field giving Peoria a 2-1 lead. #SeizeTheMoment

The Mendez HR evened the score at 1 apiece. Scottsdale tallied the first run of the season on an RBI double from Houston Astros catching prospect Walker Janek in the bottom of the 1st.

Arizona Fall League play got underway last night with the Scottsdale Scorpions hosting the Peoria Javelinas. The matchup featured Top-100 prospects Kevin McGonigle, Jonny Farmelo, and Cam Collier, but RF Hendry Mendez hit the first HR of the season, a solo shot in the 2nd inning.

The #Mariners payroll in 2017 was $160 million. With a very basic (and generous) average U.S. inflation rate of 2.6%, which is probably less than what it is in baseball, their adjusted payroll for 2025 should be $197 million. The fact they're projecting 150-155 is insulting.
