Virginia’s Senate Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources Committee is currently considering two bills that threaten to strip important authority from these boards. Ask your senator to oppose SB 657 and SB 81. TAKE ACTION!

Participating in VA Government is a burdensome process. Those with resources have a disproportionate influence... That’s just a fact. Now legislators are trying to eliminate the only meaningful venue for transparency… leaving #EnvironmentalJustice communities without a voice.

After Virginia's Air Control denied a permit for part of an offshoot of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, Republicans are proposing to limit the powers of the citizen boards that oversee Virginia’s major water, air and waste decisions.

This new report shows that aboveground storage tank spills occur in nearly every county in Virginia, and that some parts of the state — such as Richmond, the Tidewater and Blue Ridge regions, and northern Virginia — face especially high risks.

There are hundreds chemicals storage sites a stones throw from Virginia's rivers that are way more dangerous than highly regulated oil & we don't even know they exist - time to look at ways to close these gaps before we have a massive pollution event

Despite the preferred method of living shorelines, many hard shorelines are still found across the Chesapeake Bay. Living shorelines are more resilient to storms and sea level rise due to the hardy nature of the plant species that comprise them. https://t.co/WLwniSBhTZ

Upgrading Richmond's sewer system - an important step to keep raw sewage out of the James River - will cost a staggering $883M, about $100M more than the city's total budget. @pw_larsen reports runoff makes parts of the river unsafe for 35% of the summer. https://t.co/YSx6H4I3Ld

It’s important to stay informed of river conditions when boating or swimming on the #JamesRiver and there were sewer overflows in Richmond and Lynchburg yesterday following the heavy rain.

Combined sewer overflow systems are designed to discharge untreated sewage mixed with rain into the river. For decades cities with these old systems have implemented projects to reduce sewer overflows, but heavy rain still causes releases to the James in Lynchburg and Richmond.
