“You need to study your audience retention graphs.” That’s what YouTube creators hear all the time. But let’s be honest… WTF does that actually mean? I built a tool that made it crystal clear - and helped me spot patterns I was blind to before. Let me show you 👇

This is the best take I've seen so far on how creators should be using AI in thumbnail design. Love it!
I'm ready to give my take on Chat GPT When it first came out a few weeks ago, that was the first time I had truly felt threatened by Ai, and I had myself a small teeny tiny silly little mental spiral. 🙂 But then after diving into the tool & Ai updates in general, I realized

If you struggle to come up with clickable ideas for your next YouTube video... You're gonna love the GPT I just built. Try it here: https://t.co/TZnYMbrHIW Just give it your most boring video topic, and it'll throw some banger titles back at you! Want more like this? Follow me

If you take one thing away from this thread: Start with the click. End with satisfaction. That’s how you grow.

Even pro editors get this wrong. They edit the footage and hand off a thumbnail last. But thumbnail is scene selection. If your packaging demands drama, tension, or surprise — the footage must support that. Start with the hook.

Packaging should be part of pre-production, not an afterthought. Here’s a better workflow: ✅ Brainstorm titles ✅ Draft thumbnails (stick figures are fine) ✅ Choose the most clickable idea ✅ THEN write the video to deliver the click’s promise

Here’s a simple test to run before you hit record: “If I saw this title + thumbnail on my homepage… Would I stop scrolling?” If the answer isn’t an immediate “hell yes”, you’re about to waste hours on a video that won’t perform with your target audience.

Want to know how top creators plan videos? They don’t just open a new doc and start writing scripts. They open a note and brainstorm titles. The most clickable idea wins. Only then do they outline the story.

Think about it like this: Thumbnail = Curiosity Title = Hook (before first hook in vid) Video = Payoff If your video doesn’t clearly connect to the packaging, or if it overdelivers in the wrong direction, the viewer bounces - and the algorithm kills your reach.

The biggest mistake YouTube creators make? They make a great video and then try to come up with a title that "works". But that’s backwards. You should start with the title + thumbnail - and build the video to deliver on that promise.

YouTube isn’t a video platform. It’s an attention platform. Honestly, the whole thing is one big psych experiment 🤣 Your job isn’t just to make great videos — it’s to earn the click first. Because no matter how good your content is, it doesn’t matter if no one clicks.

Most YouTube creators treat the title and thumbnail as an after-thought. Part of the upload process. But if you wait until post-production, you've already lost. Here’s why smart creators start with the title and thumb - and how to do it like the pros: 🧵

While we're talking retention...
YouTube likes videos that keep people watching. Here are 10 tips to help you make videos that hold attention (retention) for longer. 1. Establish the goal or direction of the video early. The goal isn’t just to excite the viewer but to provide clarity on how each segment leads

Want to try this on your own YouTube channel? I’ll send you the sheet I use to break it all down. Just Follow + DM me “Retention Sheet” and I’ll send it over 👇 This changed how I plan videos. It'll do the same for you.

The truth is: Just a 3–5% improvement in retention at 01:00 can give your video a serious boost in AVD, APV, and overall reach. But if you're not using data to guide your video creation… You're just guessing. As strategies go that's on par with fingers-crossed hoping.

Now you’re not just spotting patterns - you’re running experiments. For example - Group your top and bottom performers at 00:10 or 03:00. Ask: – What’s grabbing attention? – What’s losing it? Then analyse and adjust as @derraleves would say!
