Darren and John Walland were what Insta reels are to today’s youth — our daily dose of laughter. Later in life, I got interviewed by Darren on his online show — possibly the least entertaining radio ever made, sadly. But what a full circle moment that was.

Was thinking about Just Plain Darren this morning on the way to work... Hadn’t heard his voice in years. The world’s changed so much since the days of High 5 at 5, but he was a massive part of my youth. Growing up in a boarding house, the radio was our Spotify.

I wonder if one of the ways we regulate AI is to not allow children below a certain age (16? 18?) to use it. Like sex and alcohol, we will likely think it best to wait when you can handle it. Otherwise, children will not read challenging books or learn how to write, a skill whose

I think it might have a seriously negative effect on those still coming through the education pipeline and their ability to think critically. Hopefully I'm wrong about the latter, but time will tell....
