This take is 100% spot on. I've never had a mind-blowing meal at a Michelin restaurant. I think it is more about being able to say you dined at a Michelin restaurant than it is the actual food (i.e. status signaling)

Agreed! Michelin tasting menus are something worth experiencing once or twice in your life, but I’d take this burger for $8 over the $300 tasting menu every day. Just as much joy.

I generally agree, but there are some really really good Michelin star restaurants. Melisse in Los Angeles and Alinea in Chicago, just to name a couple.

I usually am in your camp but I think they do get some points with experimentation and expanding the potential of our main stream food options as they keep innovating!

Michelin restaurants are purely for experience. I never get full in them. Burger and crispy fries in a red basket wil always beat out the taste of any Michelin
