📢 We’re the 1st local authority in the country to launch a Just Transition Plan, addressing the unequal impacts of climate change on those disproportionality impacted by the climate emergency, but who pay the highest costs for climate adaptation. https://t.co/DDPdeY5pKn #Cop28

More wars, climate change disasters, volatility & non resilient supply chains driving inflation, recessions - were all predicted & predictable. Not preventing this was a choice & driven to maximise short term profit extraction by a capital class which is systemically corrupted

How can we enable more communities to innovate? "The idea of trying to solve a problem by only speaking to a few people out of a whole city, won't bring much change. Instead, @london_shift #innovationdistrict takes a ground up approach where everyone is invited to collaborate"

friendly friday reminder - all humans deserve a home. we really gotta abolish the negative narratives and disgustingly classist stereotypes around social housing. If you wouldn’t live next to/in an estate or think ones next to it should be lower value, why??? Rethink plz :)

friendly friday reminder that no human is “low skilled” - this is divisive, capitalistic binary bullsh*t used to dehumanise and devalue some lives over others. Always showing up in housing/cities conversations. Stop saying it plz :)

“Entire neighborhoods were razed to make room for highways, destroying homes, businesses & amenities. Highways became barriers between neighborhoods. There’s also evidence that pollution from highways negatively impacts student outcomes in nearby schools.”

Being black or brown is not a determinant of health. The conditions put upon black and brown bodies is. Health is not something you afford, it is something afforded to you. Urban planning is healthcare.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, & most of the energy that does, moves the car, not people. Sound efficient? HT @circulareconomy

Carbon is NOT the problem it is a symptom of a structural problem. Addressing this reality has to be core of any renewal.
