Put out a note about drawing states from orbits of the Orthogonal group https://t.co/LwNqKoBXw2. With t<d^1/2 copies, the trace distance from Haar random is ~t^2/d. Also, some orbits form exact 3 designs but none form 4 designs.

Thorium-229 is special. Discovered in 1976 in a tank of radioactive waste, the isotope has a mysterious nuclear state that can be excited with far less energy than usual. Thorium-229 can be used to test the constancy of nature’s fundamental forces.
