Another problem is that US voters think left = Democrats and Democrats = left, so saying a candidate is too far left just means they're too Democrat, whatever that happens to entail at the time
This debate about whether Kamala, and by extension the Democratic party, is either too far left or too moderate depends on the idea that there is some core set of beliefs that guide the stances they take in public. They don't believe in anything and are judged as such by voters.

Harris's problem is that on the way up, she was groomed to be the perfect antidote to the Bernie bro, but by the time she actually got her shot, the scripted flipped and it was the left who were woke snowflakes.
Her left-wing pivot from 17-20 wasn't persuasive to voters either, hence why she ended up with no lane, and dropped out before Iowa. The common thread is that she's not authentic, and when you combine that with being veep to a deeply unpopular incumbent ββ that's the story.
