"The truth is, no amount of safeguards can protect people with disabilities. When people cannot access the care they need to live, and feel they have no real alternatives, there is no longer a promise of 'choice,'" said Elizabeth McCormick, @NYAIL. https://t.co/5dsoRwZJKk

@firstthingsmag @GovKathyHochul Through her signing the bill, @GovKathyHochul will unleash rampant unchecked abuses like that of Eileen Mihich onto the state of New York. https://t.co/t6Hx4z7ShX
Eileen should still be alive, but the system failed her by legalizing physician-assisted suicide. Because of the strain of her mental suffering she used the law to obtain assisted suicide drugs and take her life. Eileen is proof that PAS laws don't work.

Eileen deserved better. So do all of us. Assisted suicide isn’t compassion; it’s the ultimate abandonment of vulnerable people.
Eileen did not qualify for physician assisted suicide medications for multiple reasons, and yet was found dead in a hotel room with an empty bottle of lethal medication by her side. - @AgingwDignity WATCH: https://t.co/3bMAyBE7md

Seeing myself on camera is my own special circle of hell, but the data is clear that this policy is dangerously and is abused. Just today another story came out of a young woman with mental health troubles accessed lethal drugs in Washington.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has indicated she'll sign legislation legalizing terminally-ill New Yorkers ending their lives with the help of a doctor. We heard from @JRodMSW about the proposal that is awaiting her signature. #MedicalAidInDying #PhysicianAssistedSuicide @NoSuicideNY

Great piece about why @GovKathyHochul should veto assisted suicide. Sharon was at the vigil on Thursday in NYC and lays out exactly why this bill is dangerous. https://t.co/0YluskSIYd

“The governor has done tremendous work in #SuicidePrevention. Signing a bill like this that puts our most vulnerable neighbors in danger of being abandoned by their doctors is counter to everything that @GovKathyHochul has been doing.” -@JRodMSW, @PRAFund

Hundreds of people gathered around New York State this week asking @GovKathyHochul to veto assisted suicide. I’m so proud to be part of the diverse coalition that makes up @NoSuicideNY and to work with the amazing advocates that stand in the gap to protect others.

Governor Hochul has not yet received Bill S.138/A.136, which would legalize assisted suicide. CDR is deeply concerned & calls for a veto. Maximino Rodriguez, Manager of Gov. Affairs: “This bill endangers disabled New Yorkers and must be rejected.” 🔗

The governor has asked for additions including a video recording of the request and a waiting period before approval.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown weighs in on assisted suicide. It’s a message I hope @GovKathyHochul hears: vulnerable people will be pushed to death in a system without equitable care. Her legacy shouldn’t be one of sanctioning suicide- she should veto this dangerous bill.
It is not too late to put the brakes on assisted dying, and focus on improved palliative, social and end-of-life care https://t.co/eKVlyfTxj6

Great to talk to @KaitlynnLisa about why @GovKathyHochul should veto the dangerous assisted suicide bill. If she's considering amendments it's because she knows it is terrible legislation. Easy answer: listen to the 100's gathering this week and veto! https://t.co/AHYuOPThhN
