On this day in 1914 Britain declared war on Germany. The First World War would continue until 11th November 1918. In Warstone Lane Cemetery there are 51 First World War burials.

Joseph Hall was the inventor of the system of 'wet puddling' (Pig-iron boiling) which produces wrought iron. Hall's invention led to the construction of the Eiffel Tower & the original framework of the Statue of Liberty. He is buried in Key Hill Cemetery in JQ #InventorsMonth

Today the scenic Hatton Locks are on a stretch of waterway named the Grand Union Canal, but when opened in 1799 this was the Warwick & Birmingham Canal! ā Built to carry coal for the industry in the Black Country, and as a vital trade link connecting London and Midlands. š§µ

It's inventors month! Harry Gem was a lawyer, soldier and sportsman. He is buried in Warstone Lane cemetery in the Jewellery Quarter, and is the inventor of lawn tennis! #InventorsMonth
