Flying home from Odense via Copenhagen, Heathrow, and Dallas. Good to be back sharing my socks adventures!

Pleased to receive an honorary doctorate from SDU (Univ of South Denmark) in Odense.

Heading home to Austin from Xi’an, a final China tour stop that featured a spectacular visit to the Terracotta Warriors with ⁦@YuanningFeng⁩, Prof. Osuka, Huacheng Zhang, ⁦@ntuzhaoyanli⁩ and other friends. Long, fun trip!

Amazing birthday symposium and cake co-organized by Texas Exes, Xiaolong Sun and Huacheng Zhang. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to them and all the former coworkers and friends who made it possible. An extra thanks to Denise and Atsuhiro who made the event extra special.

An honor to give a Stoddart Family award address ⁦@ismsc2024⁩ ⁦and explain 3-component electron transfer with a juggling act. Thanks to ⁦@sirfrasersays⁩ for making this award possible and inspiring us! He was awarded a “game ball” afterwards. Prof. Feihe Huang too.

After giving a final and enjoying a spectacular ⁦@AustinOpera⁩ performance of Carmen, it is off to Hangzhou vis Shanghai for the ⁦@ismsc2024⁩ ⁦@TeamISMSC⁩ meeting. Excited for great science and a chance to meet and make so many friends.

With Denise (a white sock lawyer) it is off to the ⁦@theNASciences⁩ meeting. Looking forward to honoring the new inductees (congrats again!) and meeting many friends in Washington D.C.

We mourn the untimely passing of Prof. Atanu Jana. Over a decade ago he helped set up a joint lab at Yonsei University (Seoul) with me and Dongho Kim. The picture shows the culmination of a hike in that era. He repeated this task later at Shanghai Univ. He is sorely missed. RIP!

Joint Crown and Anchor beer / soft drink celebration on Tuesday for a ⁦@acsJACS⁩ paper on 3D printed receptors for cobalt capture joint with the ⁦@zakpage⁩ group, it is off to Bangkok for the 9th Asian Coordination Chemistry Conference.

An honor to celebrate ⁦@shengqianma⁩ winning the Peter O’Donnell Award with ⁦@PamLovesScience and ⁦@UNTChemistry⁩ at the ⁦@TAMESTX⁩ 2024 banquet. So proud of you!

So honored to be feted with a celebratory dinner by Prof. Mei-Xian Wang in Beijing honor of my election as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This was a nomination he led but which was assisted a very strong support team. I’m incredibly grateful! Happy New Year!

After a lovely NACS meeting in NOLA, it is off to Shanghai and Beijing for a week+. It will be cold, but the science I see will surely be “hot”. The friendships equally warm. Happy holidays to all!
