"We wanted to define scenarios that were realistic and then based on those scenarios project what might happen, giving us some [upper and lower] bounds to work with," says Tak Igusa, a civil engineer @JohnsHopkins @JHUCaSE.

A team of researchers tried something that's never been done as a conflict rages. Instead of trying to calculate the toll of war in the moment, they looked forward. What's the reaction to their study?

A big chapter in our work will close @JohnsHopkins #crc next moth. To say it’s been some of the most important work of my career is an understatement. I will continue to work and advocate for better public data. An influential COVID tracker shuts down

Time to say goodbye! Our @JohnsHopkins #COVID19 Dashboard will stop updating on March 10. Over the past three years, nearly 40% of the people on this planet have visited our map. We appreciate all your trust and support!
After a three year commitment to providing the public with the most up-to-date research and analysis of the pandemic, the @JohnsHopkins Coronavirus Resource Center will cease operations on March 10. https://t.co/I8jmWAE8YP

"When my PhD student, Ensheng Dong, and I started the dashboard in January 2020, of course we didn’t know the scale Covid-19 would evolve to. But even at that time, I understood the value of science and data." Watch Lauren Gardner's #LaskerAward remarks:

“There should be a standardized way in which the data is provided and shared publicly, as well as what is shared,” says @TexasDownUnder. “That would’ve made our job a lot easier.” Check this out: Lessons from the COVID data wizards ( https://t.co/0cXpbELVds)
