Amherst developer Paul Bliss is asking for nearly $4 million in tax breaks to support a pricey market-rate apartment project that includes a small component of "workforce housing" to satisfy

A prime example of this phenomenon just dropped:. A developer building market rate apartments in an upper middle class suburb — but who’s required to include a few middle-income units — says he needs $4M in tax breaks or else the banks won’t lend him money:
if you live in a part of the country that has both a lot of poor people & a fair number of developers, like Buffalo, the developers will regularly complain that the banks won't lend them money, in part bc they can't charge the high rents they want because no one can afford them.

Here, Sen. Ortt, leader of the state senate GOP, is congratulating business owners — Muhammad Shoaib & Hina Qureshi — who are under active investigation by the state labor department for wage theft. They’re accused of not paying workers overtime or tips.
Congratulations to Muhammad Shoaib and his family on the grand opening of WNY’s first @ChurchsChicken, right in the heart of downtown Niagara Falls. A great new addition to the downtown area for all those taking in the sights of the falls and the other activities our city has to

It's rare, but occasionally they admit it: ICE Buffalo is regularly "arresting" people who were already incarcerated in state or federal prison. This is a routine thing that's happened for years. What's new is that ICE now turns it into a PR opportunity.

Many of the migrants ICE Buffalo has reported arresting were already in prison. Meanwhile, arrests of non-criminals has skyrocketed.
ICE officers arrested this Ecuadorian national upon his release from NY State prison where he was sentenced after his assault conviction in 2016. He is in ICE custody pending execution of the removal order issued by an immigration judge on July 14.

Come January, Byron Brown will have gotten two raises in his first year on the job as president of the publicly-owned casino. The $314k he’ll make trumps the paltry $179k he was making as mayor. In the meantime, he’s going on a $6k trip to Las Vegas:.

Breaking: Mere months into the job, Byron Brown has already secured a raise for himself, Steve Casey & other top execs. Brown now makes nearly $304k. And that's before a contractual $10k raise hits in Jan. OTB also approved $6k for him to go to Vegas:.

Very interesting that ICE is now doing defensive PR about the agency's arrests, the majority of which are of people with no criminal record.
Listen to one of our brave ICE agents directly address the false anti-ICE narratives:. “We do targeted operations. These cases are vetted. We are going after national security threats to public safety. And we are making our communities safer.”

This guy was serving an 8-year state prison sentence, due to be released a year from now. ICE instead took custody now so it could grab another PR opportunity.
🚨ICE Buffalo arrested Fabio Coutinho, a 49-year-old citizen of Portugal and predator convicted of a criminal sexual act in Westchester County. He is now our guest while he undergoes his immigration proceedings.

Don’t fall for the propaganda: If ICE took custody of a convicted murderer there’s a very good chance that person was already in prison & ICE did nothing to get them “off the streets.”.
Imagine the complete disconnect CBS must have from the day-to-day life of Americans to look at the deportation of thousands of violent criminal illegal aliens and still pen this title. This means our officers found almost 1,000 CONVICTED MURDERERS. Not alleged, not charged, not

This is a very good piece of media criticism re: “globalize the intifada.”
In the past month, NYT has published 32 articles that mention Mamdani/"globalize the intifada", 13 on Israel's fake "aid" agency that's killed 800+, 5 on Israel's starvation campaign & 2 that mention Gaza child amputees. I argue this is objectively insane

How rotten must your soul be that you would dogpile on local reporters & producers now at risk of losing their jobs?.
Are you aware the public media station wasn’t providing any journalism during the deadly blizzard? And where is he when non-public media has financial struggles.? You know, the media that actually DOES send lifesaving alerts and information. Political pandering BS.

Gardner, the GOP candidate for mayor, makes a very inflammatory claim here. Shouldn't reporters attempt to ascertain whether his claim is true before repeating it?.

Meanwhile, ICE runs a powerful propaganda machine. It wants you to believe agents are hard at work, rounding up violent criminal migrants. Many of the people the agency brags about, however, were already incarcerated. And most had no record to speak of.
