"In baseball and in life, the people who swing hardest tend to miss more often.".
Failure. It is simply a part of being a leader. The thing some leaders forget in the midst of the chaos, is that often times the amount of eventual success is proportional to the amount of risk and failure we endure along the way. Read more:.

PBIS works when the plan is thorough, implemented well, and utilizes consequences, including exclusion. Restorative practices DO NOT work. My system is proven strong and effective, but as soon as admin are bullied out of giving consequences, it's over.

Well-articulated post and comments about policy, behavior and relationships.
Is there a correlation between relationship and behaviour?. On average, my opinion is yes, but that correlation is negative. Why?. Because the biggest driver of positive behaviour is a good policy, consistently applied. And the biggest driver of negative behaviour is a bad.

I might have been guilty once or twice of saving them from what would not have been a fatal mistake. I won't let someone make a fatal mistake. too much damn paperwork and headache.
A painful lesson for most leaders: dropping down to help does more harm than good. Your intentions are good, but you build yourself into the system. You make the team dependent on you. And who is doing your job while you do theirs? Coach. Adjust. Encourage. But let them work.

Solid thread about what PLCs really should be. But I will add, you must first establish a foundation of effective Tier 1 instruction and teachers have to learn how to have collegial discussion surrounding instruction and data. Then, your PLCs will roll.
Why don’t more schools use PLCs for collaborative planning & curriculum-based professional learning? It’s not because we don’t want to. It’s because we haven’t cleared the roadblocks. Let’s talk about the barriers—and the solutions. 🧵 #edutwitter #PLCs #MTSS.
