Bloody chuffed to say my promotion to Associate Professor has been approved ๐Ÿ˜ Here I am in all my colours. Because Iโ€™m living proof itโ€™s not what you look like, itโ€™s what you do and who you are. (Sling for my broken shoulder - because Iโ€™ll always be accident prone ๐Ÿ˜…)

When I teach Principal Component Analysis (PCA), I use my interactive dashboard to engage my students. They can observe how, through an orthogonal transformation (rotation) of a two-feature dataset, the variance of the data projected onto one of the components can be maximized.

โ€œI think this discovery reinforces the significance of curiosity-driven research. I didnโ€™t scan this fossil because I had a hypothesis I wanted to test. It was just invigorating, intellectually,โ€ Friedman says. โ€œThis discovery also shows the importance of museum collections."
