GM's new Bolt EV is aiming to be America's most affordable EV. Starting at $27,600 with 255 miles of range and bidirectional V2H power. Is this what you expected out of the Standard Tesla Model 3/Y?

@ItsKimJava Interesting to see the actual price (with reasonable options and/or dealer markup). Also, curious to see if GM will produce these in significant numbers.

@ItsKimJava If Tesla had released a 250 mile range car in 2025 (at ANY price) the coverage would look like this:

@ItsKimJava Hey! Wanted to note a tidbit from your podcast that rubbed me the wrong way. Seemed like PJ was dogging on the bolt for only having a peak DCFC speed of 150kW. However, it’s 10-80% time is under 30 minutes, which is on-par or better than modern Teslas which peak at 100kW+ higher

@ItsKimJava No. New model if necessary, but let Chinese EVs have that market and let Tesla concentrate on the next mode of transportation: Robotaxis.

@ItsKimJava I expect FSD and 500 miles, anything less is just training wheels for your next car, a Tesla. if in doubt, ask any early adopter Nissan Leaf driver.

@ItsKimJava GM is a joke. We had three Chevy Volts and every time I visited service they knew nothing about the EV. Then they cancelled it. Just like the EV1. They sold Magnequench rare earth tech to China in the 90’s. Along with what little EV knowledge they had in the 2000’s. They should

@ItsKimJava Why would anyone buy an electric car from GM after what they did to EV1 customers in the late 90’s early 2000’s. They loaded every one of them on a truck and hauled them off to be crushed leaving customers terribly dismayed. Watch the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?

@ItsKimJava Not having V2H bidirectional charging is very disappointing for Tesla's entry level models (3/Y). As cool as powerwall technology is, I shouldn't need to buy two of them when I have a 75 kWh battery sitting in my garage when I'm home

@ItsKimJava Same quality as Tesla? Doubtful. Capable of self driving? Nope. Apples vs. oranges.

@ItsKimJava Unfortunately for us Canadians, it’s made in the USA. 25% tariffs because your government is doing so on car made in Canada 🇨🇦 .

@ItsKimJava This is good. It's vital that GM get back in the game, and provide some competition for Tesla and others. (I'm a Tesla owner and shareholder.) EVs are an increasingly important sector, and GM could play an important role in its future.

@ItsKimJava No. Tesla model 3 standard is fine, but all Teslas should have v2h. It'd insane GM has it and not @Tesla .

@ItsKimJava The Bolt will be a niche market at best. Tesla has thrown in the towel on making new cars at affordable prices, the standard 3/y are a joke for the money. Tesla truck is a failure in sales and they have no new cars for the public on the horizon.

@ItsKimJava 255 miles isn't enough. Assuming you stay between 20% and 80%, you get 153 miles per charge when new and 137.7 after the first year. Fine for around town/work, but you aren't going anywhere far away in this. The lowest range Tesla will get you 173 after the first year. There

@ItsKimJava If this was in the Tesla product suite we would already own one. Mainly for parking in/around the city. We won't give up the benefits of the FSD subscription but ideally we prefer a smaller 2nd car than the 2024 RWD M3.

@ItsKimJava I own a bolt, and have had it for over 7 years and 110,000 miles. But I will be replacing it with a model Y soon. FSD is just such a compelling feature, it makes all over cars obsolete

@ItsKimJava I hope GM does well and contributes to EV adoption in large numbers. Tesla is funding an AI race and charges a premium to finance it. It’s good that people have options.

@ItsKimJava I have a few concerns. First, the actual starting price on GM's website is currently $28,595. Second, the "as shown" price there is $32,795, so don't expect all advertised options to be worth $28,000. Third, the V2H requires an additional $5-$9k for home installation.

@ItsKimJava I’ve been saying for years Tesla needs a small hatchback under 30K. If the Bolt had a “T” instead of the bow tie, demand would be insatiable.

@ItsKimJava No, I expected new MODELS from Tesla like they told us for nearly 2 years, not stripped down new TRIMS.

@ItsKimJava Price point and V2H is great value. Hope Tesla roll out the Y Standard globally soon, price matters and most people just need the software and charging network. V2X could be a paid extra.

@ItsKimJava If price is that important, buy the Bolt. All EVs are good EVs. But I have a friend who owned the previous Bolt and it wasn't in the same league as a Tesla. Like I said, if price is important, get the Bolt. But let's really see what they sell for at the dealer level. I doubt

@ItsKimJava Did you see the backseat? Totally unusable. You couldn’t even Uber in this. Like, not even close. Might as well be a 2 door coup.
