But Johnny is refusing missions with Ghost, needing the space to get over him while the omega in Simon is growing more and more worried that their beloved alpha wasn't safe or happy, wasn't close where he could make sure he ate and smiled.

. Anyway. Dramatic heartbroken Soap getting all self destructive, not being able to deal with feeling like his mate rejected and abandoned him. Meanwhile Ghost was trying to suffocate and hide his heat from Soap, scared he would lose the respect of the 141 if they knew.

"Johnny? You shouldn't be here," Ghost finally broke through his thoughts, but his expression changed to one of worry as Soap's eyes finally welled up. "I'm sorry, Simon," he whispered harshly through his tight throat. "I'll-, I'll not bother you again. Be happy. Please.".

He wants to hate it - and he does! - but the scent is so soft and sweet and comforting, like sweet pea and early grey with honey, like brown sugar and apple pie. Whoever this omega was, they were intoxicating. And it hurt that Soap couldn't hate it.

Ghost opened and at first Soap's heart settled a tiny bit just seeing the other alpha again. The big man in comfy clothes and a cloth Balaklava. But then it hits him - the sweet scent of omega. Ghost is talking but he can't hear anything over the *smell* on him.

So he marches himself to Ghost's door that evening - the only one at the end of the west wing as he liked people not knowing where his quarters were apparently. He swallowed back tears and knocked with a steady hand.

Did- did Ghost find out he was attracted to him? Was he so disgusted by the other alpha wanting him that this is him rejecting him?. It felt like a rejection from a mate, stung and confused him like one. He had to apologise, it's the least he could do.

For three agonizing days Ghost kept his distance, barely acknowledged him, put space between them, and rarely responded to his texts. Soap hadn't felt this panicked in years, not even on the field facing certain death. What happened? What did he do wrong?.

He doesn't know what he did wrong. Gaz can sense his unease and growing distress and tells him to calm down, their lieutenant was allowed to have a life outside of Soap's personal bubble. Soap had to bite down the possessive urge to growl at Gaz for that.

Then one day Ghost doesn't join him for lunch. Odd. But it happens, he's probably just distracted with work. Then he skips their gym session. Maybe he's in a meeting? Soap texts but gets no response. When he arrives at breakfast late and sits away from Soap - it stings.

They were inseparable on and off the field, teaching, training, eating, and resting together. Soap had made his peace with his attraction to the other alpha, accepting the prejudice he would face for admitting it. But he loved this man, wanted to court and dote on him.

Angsty GhostSoap Idea of the Day. Omega-hiding-as-alpha Ghost utterly breaks alpha Soap's heart when he smells the sweetest omega scent on him and assumed he has an omega. Soap had been smitten to insanity on what he thought was the other alpha who had become his shadow. .
