On this day in 2017, Gord Downie died. Born in 1964, he was the singer and lyricist for the Tragically Hip from 1984 until his death. Considered a Canadian icon, he was involved in environmental and Indigenous activism later in life.

Fully, completely, missed. 💙🎩🍁  ~ Eight years ago today we lost our beloved Tragically HIP frontman, Gord Downie. Gord was a one-of-a-kind human, a talented singer-songwriter, musician, writer, poet, and activist who is missed beyond measure. ❤️

In what world is it acceptable that the leader of the official opposition comment on legal proceedings involving private citizens, with the obvious intent of putting pressure on the judiciary to be lenient on his supporters? Very Trump-like.
