The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) Advance Tunnel 2 Project is the second tunnel package, running between Jane Street and the future Mount Dennis Station.
❓What is the Sequential Excavation Method?. a. Rotating cutterhead digs the tunnel, breaking own soil + rock.b. Tunnel is divided into smaller sections and excavated in sequences.c. Holes are drilled into the rock face, filled with explosives + detonated to break the rock. 2/3.

🚇#DYK the 500-metre twin tunnels connecting Eglinton Crosstown West Extension to the future Line 5 Eglinton were built using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM)?. As excavation progresses, concrete is sprayed onto tunnel walls to reinforce and stabilize the exposed walls. 1/3.
