@PannonianMantis It is inhumane to interfere with uncivilized cultures. Let them evolve and progress naturally. It's kind to help others, but we are just causing a birth explosion of more people to help. They've survived without us for eons. Let them find their path.

Think about it. Our brains are not designed for perfect logic, they are designed for quick decision-making to ensure our survival. Perhaps there’s no such a thing as outburst but mere attempts to survive at different intensity 🤷🏾‍♀️.

I tried to connect this idea of “rationality as survival” to some human behaviors. What if what we deem “irrational” or “out of line” is actually a deeply ingrained, often subconscious, attempt to survive?.

Today I read the last and first chapters, and he gave me a fresh perspective on rationality. Rationality for him is risk management so what seems "perfectly rational" on paper might lead to ruin, while a seemingly "irrational" action might be the key to staying in the game.

Tout le monde devrait lire Romain Gary au moins une fois dans sa vie. La Promesse de l’Aube surtout.

So, the "attempt" (the action, the risk, the struggle) is what truly matters. And the "grandeur" is in this continuous process of learning and adapting, which is the only true path to long-term survival.

For him rationality isn't about perfect logic or finding the optimal solution in a theoretical vacuum. Instead, it's a practical, evolutionary concept linked directly to survival. Rationality is revealed through a trial-and-error process with skin in the game.

I am reading Skin In The Game and I think "The grandeur of life is about the attempt, not the solution," beautifully captures the core idea Nassim Nicholas Taleb explores in the chapter on rationality.
