MLB teams have a .232 win percentage in games scoring 3 or fewer runs in 2025. 25 of the Giants' 41 games (60.9%) since May 17 have had that run output.

The Giants could've placed Keaton Winn (hasn't pitched since 4/15) on the 60-day IL and called up Devin Mann or Sergio Alcántara as a quick six-day stopgap before Chapman gets back. Apparently playing Wilmer at 3B was preferable.

The real conversations can begin when it’s time to decide whether or not to extend Melvin beyond 2026, which will have to happen at some point in the offseason but now the roster can take priority.

Picking up Melvin’s option is just eyewash. If things are a disaster down the stretch, one year on the deal won’t be much of an impediment towards firing him. And if they finish with 82-85 wins, they won’t have to worry about the manager and focus on upgrading the roster.

Walker and Miller have pitched in the 2nd and 3rd highest leverage spots on average for the Giants this year, respectively. And they have not come anywhere close to pitching like they should be in those spots.

These shapes aren’t *new* to Harrison, he’s messed around in those movement areas several times since we started getting StatCast data on him, but actually incorporating them as a regular part of his repertoire will likely make or break whether he starts or not.

Expanding out Harrison’s repertoire was something the Giants should’ve done two years ago. So weird that they didn’t— and now the Red Sox do it immediately.

I've loved Carson Seymour for a long time. So excited he's finally getting his shot– and in a season where the FB velo is up 2 MPH and is touching 98-99 MPH. His breaker is an elite pitch. Added a cutter this year that looks solid on paper but needs to refine where he spots it.

We'll see what this means, hopefully not an injury-related scratch. Seymour is my favorite pitching prospect in the organization, so a call-up would be really exciting if it is that.
