This week at @mozillafestival we’re launching ‘TheHyper <in>visibility of Blackness’ - a digital timeline exploring the paradox Black bodies exist in: being at once overlooked but hyper surveilled. It’s an adaption of one of our largest pieces of work from This Machine is Black

I propose the creation of the DeTuring Award. It will be granted to people who are consistently trying (and failing) to deter society from using computer technology by scaring everyone with imaginary risks. As the Turing Award is the Nobel Prize of computing, the DeTuring Award

I made a quick proof of concept that generates pages using https://t.co/RPUQEV5Qlh Design System based on a prompt. You can ask it to make a specific form page, a start page, a page with a two-third one-third grid, and all sorts of other things. It was so easy 🫢

Our hearts are heavy but with those resisting oppression. The path to peace is one made up of many voices. We only hope that our work can contribute to this.

On the day that this launched in New York City, there was also a protest supporting the liberation of Palestine 🇵🇸 . For us at Identity 2.0, we’d also be amiss if we ignored the way weapon systems are often developed and tested on those most vulnerable.

It’s hard to sum up how we feel about this project. It’s been a year in the making and doesn’t quite feel real that people saw it last Friday. It now lives in people's hearts and minds, and will inspire people in ways we can’t even imagine.

Groups made their own zines to explain their tools which ranged from an identity swapper to a satire of online consent. This is just a few of their creations.
