So grateful to @CAFLNetwork @AACinfo and @arpdc_alberta for allowing me to share my assessment practices. Thank you to the delegates who came for Damian, but also left with a story of "greatness" from Ottawa students. #findyourgreatness #cafIncon2024 #ocdsb

Thank you for having me Michael! Had a blast chatting about assessment.
Do you like podcasts? Do you like #assessment? (You do, don't be coy!) Check out the latest episode from @AERA_CA_SIG. I'm joined by @profmarthak and @IdeaShopPD to talk about how they're supporting teachers at all levels to enact formative assessment

More assessment conversations need to be happening. How can we harness formative assessment to support early literacy interventions? What does that look like in an actual classroom? Excited for my work with @CAFLNetwork and curious to see what I can learn in my next read! #onted

Following a thread for a local university and seeing their posts about finals and grades is heartbreaking. How a student can have an A going into a final but then fail the course because of the exam should really be giving profs cause to examine their assessment policies. #onted.

Currently reading the B2 expectations in the new Ontario Language Curriculum and thinking about the PD opportunities teachers (especially our new ones) deserve to begin implementing this. These are densely packed expectations. #onted #ontarioteacher

Looking for Pride (or other) resource suggestions specifically from #OCDSB ESL teachers. Read alouds you’ve used with students from different cultural backgrounds that explore the importance of recognizing and accepting differences. #PRIDEMONTH.

Just finished a Fall secondment at @uOttawaEdu. My feedback from students has always been how much they appreciate and value the courses from teachers “in the field”. I’ve long believed we need to move towards an apprenticeship model. Teaching is a craft that must be honed.
I have a beef with some Bachelor of Education Programs. Please - enough theory & more practical!. Can you show me where we are teaching new educators about real life kids? . (Managing Behavior, Executive Function, Big Emotions, De-escalation, Planning for Unique Learners, etc).
