Kidney replacement therapy (KRT) is used to treat critically ill children for many reasons, including hyperammonemia. KRT mgmt in children w/hyperammonemia not due to inborn errors of metabolism is challenging. Read this Mgmt Dilemma for more. #OpenAccess

No one is talking about the impact of multi year funding. First, this provides no oversight and accountants. Second, this will effectively cut the number of grants by 75-80%. The impact of this cannot be overstated.
The Senate is deliberating over the NIH budget this week. But, it's not just the total $$ that's an issue..but that NIH leadership wants to front load multi-year grants and not distribute them over 4/5 years...this will lead to very few NEW grants awarded = shutting down labs.

Continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) is used to treat critically ill children. Longer CKRT duration & lower urine output at CKRT initiation are assoc w/a lower likelihood of successful liberation from CKRT. Read this Research Letter for more. https://t.co/Tl6EalkEtZ
