9 days. 100+ documents. Many sessions. @ITU Council concludes! .This Council has been our compass and I thank Councillors for their support, guidance + cooperation. We move forward with renewed momentum, guided by the decisions made for the betterment of this great Union

A @UN system-wide response is critical given the pressures facing the organization. @ITU + @ILO coordinate the #UN80 Specialized Agencies Cluster—united to leverage our expertise + networks for a stronger UN. Committed to efficiencies, collaboration, and Member State-led reforms.

The speed of AI innovation is staggering, but so is the need for dialogue as we navigate complex questions about the balance between autonomous decision-making for efficiency, and meaningful human oversight to ensure responsible outcomes.

The @IntGovForum and @ITU have always stood for digital progress. And that’s the #WSIS vision we must carry forward in the 20-year Review. So let’s keep building digital governance together — with everyone at the table — so that technology serves all people, everywhere. #IGF2025

How fitting to mark #WomenInDiplomacy Day during @ITU Council. My thanks to our women delegates for their commitment to advancing digital progress for all. Because real transformation only happens when women help lead the decisions shaping our digital future.

Great to be in the city with such a key role in our early #ITU160 history — Bern! .Today, the challenges of our time are bigger than any one city or country. Solving them requires the kind of international cooperation that has been part of our shared legacy for over a century.

My advice to our first cohort of @ITU Young Professionals: Make the most of this 2-year journey! .Be curious. Bring your solutions and share your ideas on how we can do things better. Think of our Programme as a springboard to even greater things in the digital development space

Digital connectivity, skills and services are a lifeline for those forced to flee their homes. Here at @ITU, solidarity with refugees means advancing connectivity + digital solutions to help the forcibly displaced rebuild lives and ensure no one is left behind .#WorldRefugeeDay

The 2.6 billion unconnected + millions more being left behind are counting on us to bring a better #DigitalFutureForAll. So let’s unite in purpose + shared values to shape a #FitForFutureITU that delivers for our Members, #ForPeopleForPlanet, for the next #ITU160 years + beyond

From the telegraph to AI, @ITU’s evolution has never stopped—because transformation is embedded in our DNA. Yet, despite the #ITU160 years of progress, digital disparities remain. That’s what makes ITU's mandate more important, and our transformation more urgent than ever.

I believe @ITU founders would be astounded by—and proud of—the progress we have made. Two-thirds of the population are connected. Our Union continues to grow. And with each wave of new technology, we innovate and expand support to our Membership. #ITU160
