Like wheel truing but for a different sport. Same skill level.

If you're interested in making IT more sustainable and looking for metrics to prove it, this is a great place to start.
https://t.co/FDdXYnNgQJ launches Technology Sustainability Standards. What does this mean for ITAM and ITAD, and how can they contribute? #TheITAMReview #SAM #ITAM

Utterly chilling. In less than a month I'll be presenting at a conference at an FLA university. The people there are genuinely open, warm, and welcoming. Just wondering if my rainbow laces will get past border control.
I tend to take claims like these with a grain of salt. But I just went line-by-line through the DeSantis education bill. And you guys, it’s *bananas*. A road map for wrecking one of our great state systems of higher education. 🧵 1/

Your regular reminder that when your web hosting or email is unreliable the answer is "It's always DNS". Appear to be significant issues at @GoDaddy this morning which means https://t.co/djpS7AzVzA may be occasionally unavailable.

It's not just @marcmarquez93 who gets his knee down in blue and orange. Those lean angles at approaching 100kph on a 3cm contact patch are terrifying

I wish @Apple and others would offer a slow ship option. I've got a custom Mac on the way. Just left Shenzhen. Will be on my desk Thursday morning. Madness, caused by the tight integration of Apple kit (16GB rather 8GB memory means it comes from China rather being held in stock)

Hey @RAF_Luton plenty of comedy gold opportunities here. Olympus, David Bailey, etc etc
Port side of XA903 the Vulcan B1 test bed or the Olympus 593 Concorde engine. In all there were 219 tests adding up to 417 flying hours of which 248 were engine test hours. The last flight was on 21st July 1971.

Hey @TheRegister are you aware of this huge change to Oracle Java licensing. Switch from Processers/Users to Employees. Oh and employees includes all, including those at third parties, not just those who use Java. Multi-million dollar impact for large firms.
As of January 23, 2023 Oracle have changed the licensing model for Java, with employee count now the primary metric. #TheITAMReview #SAM #ITAM

MvdP doing a decent @marcmarquez93 impression here in sunny Benidorm. Only a couple of BHP here though.

On a more serious note, poor software control these days can undoubtedly put missions at risk. For an organization which routinely patches spacecraft on other planets and even at the edge of our solar system it's surprising the CIO doesn't see it as a priority.

Life goal completed ✅. Managed to weave the Kranz Dictum into an article. Also features (to paraphrase) "Space is hard, but Oracle licensing is harder"

The NASA Inspector General has published a scathing report into the agency’s poor SAM practices & $15m Oracle overspend.

Who knew "run a couple of checklists" was pilot speak for change our shorts? This was about ten seconds short of Tenerife '77. Good job all round.
JFK Airport New York - Friday the 13th, 2023. American Airlines Boeing 777 (AAL106) going to London crosses the wrong runway while taxiing while a Delta Airlines Boeing 737 (DAL1943) is departing for Santo Domingo on the same runway stopping their takeoff avoiding a disaster. 😳

Space may be hard, but clearly NASA think Oracle licensing is harder. Just like us, they're not alone - this lack of focus on SAM is pretty endemic across US Federal agencies. There's also a strong alignment with tech/engineer-led startups elsewhere. Admin rights still important.

Really hope that this is a new dawn for Coventry City supporters, they've suffered enough and deserve better. They took the SISU bullet intended for my club and have been royally fucked over ever since.
Businessman Doug King has become the new majority owner of Coventry City, the English second-tier Championship side said on Tuesday.

Based on this, I reckon @cheetah could do a decent job at scrum half

Dear @ridegiantbikes this is your regular reminder to start offering the Defy Advanced Pro as a frameset already! (you already do for Propel, Revolt, TCR, etc so why not Defy?)

Late to the party but sat at home full of a cold with a log fire blazing and a hot water bottle, so finally stuck Top Gun Maverick on. Quality retro nonsense, utter escapism. Dambusters > 633 Squadron > Star Wars > Maverick (and that's just fine)

This is quite possibly my favourite thread ever on Twitter. It speaks to the utter pessimism most IT Ops people have about their systems and what can and will ultimately go wrong (apols for GiF from the wrong HHGTTG) (well, wrong apart from Ms Deschanel)
I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.
