Hey @TheRegister are you aware of this huge change to Oracle Java licensing. Switch from Processers/Users to Employees. Oh and employees includes all, including those at third parties, not just those who use Java. Multi-million dollar impact for large firms.

On a more serious note, poor software control these days can undoubtedly put missions at risk. For an organization which routinely patches spacecraft on other planets and even at the edge of our solar system it's surprising the CIO doesn't see it as a priority.

Space may be hard, but clearly NASA think Oracle licensing is harder. Just like us, they're not alone - this lack of focus on SAM is pretty endemic across US Federal agencies. There's also a strong alignment with tech/engineer-led startups elsewhere. Admin rights still important.

Really hope that this is a new dawn for Coventry City supporters, they've suffered enough and deserve better. They took the SISU bullet intended for my club and have been royally fucked over ever since.
