#AISspotted Russian #icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn leaving Murmansk for "Arctic 21". Russia had planned a major scientific expedition to the Arctic in 2020, but that was postponed due to COVID. Could this be it? https://t.co/2FI1yGJb1j

We zoomed in and found the @CoastGuardCAN Amundsen on #sentinel2 #satellite 🛰️ imagery navigating through #ice in the high #arctic. Amazing being able to spot the Canadian red and white icebreaker ⛴️ from a satellite 780km from earth! #seaice #icebreaking #EarthObservation

While Yamal is crossing the Laptev Sea, 50 Let Pobedy is heading to the North Pole with tourists and Arktika is drydocked for repairs in Kronstadt. Every other nuclear-powered #icebreaking ship ever built is in Murmansk (and two new ones have been launched in Saint Petersburg).
