90% of a pinnacle iceberg’s mass is underwater😲. While they appear large above the surface, most of their mass is submerged, making them deceptively enormous!. But that's just the tip of the iceberg! (see what we did there?)

Training together for safer waters. 🛟. We recently trained with Auxiliary members from Tasiujaq, Kuujjuaq, and Kangiqsualujjuaq, in Nunavik (northern Quebec). This hands-on training focused on #SearchAndRescue, medical first aid, and communication.

Be mindful of your wake! 🌊⚓. Large waves can swamp or capsize smaller vessels, damage shorelines, and endanger swimmers. ✅ Slow down near smaller boats and shorelines.✅ Keep a safe distance before throttling up

They’re created when natural erosion near the waterline carves out a U-shaped slot, leaving behind twin columns or pinnacles of ice, almost like the walls of a drydock holding a ship.

#DidYouKnow that: some icebergs are shaped like a natural drydock?. In shipbuilding, a drydock is a massive, U-shaped space where ships are lifted out of the water for repairs and maintenance. Interestingly, some icebergs form in a similar shape!
