The Arctic season is picking up steam. 🚢❄️.The CCGS Des Groseilliers and CCGS Jean Goodwill are joining forces in the Arctic. CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier will follow close behind, heading north on July 17.

Our Inshore Rescue Boat students from our Hill Island station teamed up with @RCAF_ARC 424 Squadron for some hands-on joint training. From hoisting practice to recovering people in the water, this was a serious dose of rescue action. 💪🛥️🚁. 🎥 Julia Caswell

⚠️ We’d like to remind the public that a one-nautical-mile emergency and drone restriction zone remains in place to ensure the safety of responders and the public.

The EEMS Dublin remains in the area to facilitate the transfer of personnel and containers. As on water and shoreline surveys continue, minor oil observations, such as tar stains and small tar balls, continue to be recorded in Cedar Cove and nearby shorelines.

Progress continues in the response to the MSC Baltic III. As of now, about 85% of the heavy fuel and 208 of the 472 containers on board have been removed from the ship. Fuel removal remains the top priority, with efforts shifting to oil in the engine room and smaller tanks.

Brace yourselves, a new era of icebreaking is coming! 🚢❄️👑. These future giants in the North will have a year-round presence. They’re designed for the Arctic and will support northern communities, protect our waters, and break through ice where few can.
