Gentoo penguins (𝙋𝙮𝙜𝙤𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙖𝙥𝙪𝙖) are the third largest species of penguin. They stand at approximately 76 centimetres, or 30 inches, tall and weigh 5-8 kilograms (~11-18 pounds). 🐧. ©️ @tpjverhoeven.photography

This blonde fur seal is not like the others -- they're leucistic!. Leucism is a rare condition that results in partial loss of pigmentation. This condition differs from albinism (complete loss of melanin) because the animals' eye color is not affected. 🦭. ©️ @letusgophoto

Did you know. ? The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimates that there are 10,000,000 mature Adélie penguins around Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic islands. Adélie penguin populations were last assessed in 2020. 🐧 . ©️ @sealcub

Weddell seals weigh an average of 25–30 kilograms (~55-66 pounds) at birth. Over the course of six weeks, they will gain approximately 3 kg (7 lbs) per day. When they leave their mother's care, pups weigh 110-140 kg (240-310 lbs). 🦭. ©️ @rezphotography

Did you know. ? Adélie penguins' diet varies depending on where their food is captured. 🐧🦐🐟 . When foraging near their colony, Adélies eat fish, amphipods (small crustaceans), and crystal krill. Farther from the coast, Adélies eat Antarctic krill. ©️ @sealcub
