For Svetlana Mojsov, who published key papers on the GLP-1 receptor while at MGH in the 1980s, the Lasker prize caps a mind-bending change of fortune, as she told Science in a Q and A.

Slower clearance may be the simpler explanation, especially as cfDNA is cleared in the liver, and cfDNA concentration is increased the most in the presence of liver cancer. 4/n.

This implies that either the turnover of healthy cells such as leukocytes is increased by the corresponding multiplicative factor, or that clearance of cfDNA is slowed down by the same factor in the presence of early-stage cancer. 3/n.
