Scoop: An alliance of leading national Democratic groups, including the DNC, is preparing a new effort this summer focused on driving voter engagement as the party tries to regain support following its defeats in 2024.

During May of '17 when Democrats were out of power in Washington, DNC raised around $4.3 million and had about $7.7 million in cash on hand. The DNC disclosed having $15 million in cash on hand at the end of last month and raising around $10.7 million.

New campaign finance filings show RNC has larger cash on hand advantage over DNC at end of May than it did during same time in '17. End of May '17: RNC had around $34 million more in cash on hand than DNC. End of May '25: RNC has over $57 million more in cash on hand than DNC.

Hogg has announced tonight he’s not running for the vice chair slot. “Ultimately, I have decided to not run in this upcoming election so the party can focus on what really matters,” he says in an emailed release.

DNC members have voted overwhelmingly to clear a procedural hurdle and hold new elections for two vice chair roles, including the one held for the last few months by David Hogg. Voting for the first of the two vice chair roles starts tomorrow.

The significance? Television advertisements from the group will initially air in North Carolina, Louisiana, Maine, Idaho and the District of Columbia but could expand further.
