Intro 1378 bans the sale of #FoieGras but also bans the sale of any other part of the duck that is used. This will lead to an unexpected mass overhaul of restaurant menus throughout the city and state.

In some cases, these families have been working there generationally, whether they themselves were born into the work, or have raised their families on it. #FoieGras

The drastic financial impacts of Intro 1378 are something that are often overlooked. 400+ families in one of the more economically burdened counties in NYS would be without work.

Yesterday we spoke outside of City Hall and shared experiences on how #FoieGras and the industry have been able to help so many across different walks of life. A ban would destroy what all of these individuals have worked so hard to achieve in their quest for the American Dream.

"New York City is the nation's largest market for foie gras, and two of only three farms in the nation that produce foie gras are in the Hudson Valley, employing 400 people between them." https://t.co/YxOMKhQL4S

The amount of workers in the farm industry has gone down considerably due multiple reasons, we urge @NYCCouncil not to be another one of those reasons.

So why is @NYCCouncil trying to make the lives of farmers harder by taking away work and opportunities from hard working New Yorkers?

"Farming is hard. Farmers work from dawn to dusk, six or seven days a week. As we have seen, the amount of food they produce depends largely on factors they cannot control"

"It’s certainly not worse than the atrocious treatment commonly endured by animals in the beef, pork and poultry industries." This proposed ban has always been about a false narrative rather than actual welfare of animals. If it wasn't, the corporations would be targeted instead.

"... I think it’s hypocritical to try to ban it and yet not make even a single quack about the way other poultry, beef and pork are raised." This point proves that the proposed ban from the @NYCCouncil is baseless grandstanding.

This NYDN article addresses a key point, that legislators still have not visited the facilities and farms being targeted. This proves that this bill is more about flash than it is substance. @NYCCouncil should see the processes with their own eyes.

"This is fetishism, not serious legislation. They’re not courageous, they’re chicken." Thank you @NYDailyNews for your piece on the truth regarding this unfair and arbitrary legislation

Members of the City Council are feeling just ducky as, egged on by animal rights activists, they waddle toward a ban on the sale of fatty livers from force-fed birds. Not that the legislation’…

96% of farms in New York State are family owned. which means that any drastic shake-up to their operations directly effects small and family businesses, often for the worse.

Banning #FoieGras is not something that should be done lightly. The ramifications are more than the average person can see without further analysis. We strongly encourage anyone remotely interested in the matter to research for themselves how catastrophic this can be.

Speaker Johnson has refused our personal invites to come visit. So we have gone directly to the media, to share and disseminate our message of how unfairly and dishonestly this problem is being treated.

They have opted not to respond and not to learn the truth regarding our standards of work. @NYCMayor had stated that although passionate about the safety of animals, he too would want to learn more before being declarative.
