Ioto’s ongoing eruption is not large by any world standards, just “large” if you only compare it to post 2000 eruptions on or just offshore of the island.

My justification: volcano hazards have already occurred during the ongoing eruption which extended beyond 1 km radius of erupting vents unlike prior historic eruptions.

Opinion. The alert level for Japan’s Ioto volcano REALLY should be raised to 3 from 2 (yellow to orange). Especially due to the size/nature of its ongoing eruption.

However, magma could still rush back to the cone and produce a major eruption in only a few hours time like on August 1-2 2025. Or, it might not and the major eruption in the eruption cycle is greatly delayed. (2/2)

Indonesia’s Lewotobi volcano (Flores Island, Laki Laki cone) in my opinion is likely to produce a major #eruption within 12 hours. It has been producing cyclical activity that ends in a major eruption since Nov of 2024. This would be its 9th major eruption since then if it occurs

I want to add that the only site giving a set of coordinates at the present (Wikipedia) are incorrect. Gives empty flattish land

I am requesting assistance in geolocating where exactly “Tarasin village” is in Sudan. I’ve been attempting to geolocate for 2 hours now to the north, northeast, or east of the Jebel Marra volcano with no luck. This is so I can make a video discussing the #landslide. #geolocation

By definition, a M8.0 or larger earthquake is considered a “great earthquake”. However I prefer not using that wording to prevent people thinking I am saying positive things about a very large magnitude earthquake. Instead I use “major” for all M7.0+ EQs

Assuming typical activity for now since its fumaroles are often quite strong and hot.

Thanks for uploading the Tracy Arm landslide photos on the USGS site at https://t.co/AqrnHFAu79 . I wish to confirm that these are in the Public Domain, and who took them so I can properly attribute them for usage in a video. @USGSVolcanoes @USGS

With 0.08" of precipitation, San Francisco had the 8th wettest July on record (since 1849). Other NWS offices may find this funny.

#Iliamna Volcano is NOT experiencing volcanic unrest. There were some relatively small rock-ice avalanches back on June 15. Avalanches often occur this time of year. There has been NO unusual volcanic activity detected at Iliamna. Please help us get the word out! (1/2)
