I very much like this adjusted ranking of the David Smith @dsmitheconomics ratings by Peter Dixon @EomicsUK that elevates the #EYITEMClub @EY_ITEMClub ranking to 3rd on the most accurate #UK #economic forecasters of 2019 😃
@dsmitheconomics analysis of economic rankings is one of the must-read pieces of the year for those interested in how well economic forecasters have performed. I have tweaked the methodology to derive a purely data-driven ranking. Some blog thoughts here: https://t.co/TosvQQ1usJ

A note of thanks to our amazing NHS. I dialled 999 for myself on Friday after collapsing during work with chest pains and dizziness. I feared the worst. Paramedics reached me in minutes. After tests/scans it turns out I have pneumonia. A relief, frankly. Moral: protect our NHS.

This, just do this. It makes sense.
So my takeaways are: - get vaccinated. - get boosted - wear a mask indoors in public spaces - open windows when people in your home - and do these things to protect others as much or more than yourself and I wish Covid wasn't so prevalent that it was so easy to catch! 8/8

Lot to agree with in this David Smith @dsmitheconomics article - is notable that pandemic has caused a lot of people to re-evaluate what they want from where they live as well as resulting in very weak base effects for pay & inflation

Following 2.3% month-on-month growth in April (strongest monthly growth since last August), #UK #GDP was up 1.5% on 3-month/3-month basis in April compared to drop of 1.5% in March. Little surprise April growth was led by services which benefited most from easing of restrictions
GDP grew 2.3% in April 2021, but remains 3.7% below its pre-pandemic peak: ▪️ services grew 3.4% (4.1% below peak) ▪️ manufacturing fell 0.3% (2.4% below peak) ▪️ construction fell 2.0% (0.3% above peak) ➡️ https://t.co/yci1NmD9Ib
