The brave men and women of the @CapitolPolice deserve to be celebrated! I hosted a breakfast with my Democratic colleagues to thank them for their dedication. I'm incredibly grateful for the courage of these officers who stand ready to protect and defend the Capitol community.

Donald Trump’s pardons for Jan. 6th violent insurrectionists unleashed danger in our country. These threats against Leader Jeffries are the latest example. I'll continue to stand against political violence and advocate for the rule of law. Full statement to come.

Republicans have shut down the government and now they are threatening to punish the men and women who serve our country by attempting to withhold back pay. This is wholly unacceptable and un-American. Read my statement here:

The @FEC is broken. With no refs on the field, politicians are calling their own penalties. The President needs to do his job—bring in the refs to restore fair play. We need a functioning FEC with a body of impartial line judges people can trust, not biased political players.

Trey Trainor’s resignation from the @FEC furthers the crisis at this critical agency. Without a quorum, the FEC cannot perform the campaign finance oversight functions our elections desperately need.

I’m glad @RepJeffries, @SpeakerJohnson, @RepBryanSteil, and I could work together to double funding for the Member security pilot program. More must be done to protect Members, staff & constituents—but this is an important and necessary start.

Today, we celebrate 60 years of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. While the work to protect access to the ballot box continues, we remember those who came before us and the progress they made. We carry on the fight they began to bring America closer to its foundational promise.

United States @CapitolPolice Officers Jacob Chestnut and Detective John Gibson served our nation & protected the Capitol Community with honor and bravery. Years later, we remember and pay tribute to these men who gave the last full measure of devotion.

No one is above the law. It's past time that we right the wrong perpetrated by the Roberts court & undo Trump vs. United States. @RepJoeMorelle's constitutional amendment will help preserve American democracy & ensure presidents are held accountable.

The President of the United States should be equal in the eyes of the law with every other American. My constitutional amendment would reverse the Supreme Court's disastrous decision to put the President beyond accountability.
