As #COP30 unfolds in Belém, Brazil, @Habitat_org calls on world leaders to make housing central to climate adaptation, urban resilience and equitable development. Without sustainable and resilient housing, climate action risks leaving the most vulnerable behind. 🏠🌍

Despite housing’s role in resilience, it’s missing from most national climate plans, or NDCs. Habitat for Humanity found only 8% of 188 NDCs strongly reference housing — while 60% make little or no mention. It’s time to make housing a climate priority.

At #COP30, I reminded leaders that the climate & housing crises are deeply connected. 1 in 3 urban residents in the Global South live in informal settlements - hit the hardest by the climate emergency. Climate justice begins with investments in adequate housing & local action.

Week 1 at #COP30 ends with one message ringing loud and clear: there’s no climate action without urban action. Week 2 starts now: with more action ahead on resilience, services, finance, and the road to #WUF13. More information is on our website: https://t.co/3GLay7zS0U
