As of April 15, the peduncles or flower stems of the cherry blossom have started getting longer and individual blossoms can be clearly seen.

It's Thursday, April 20, and we've officially reached peak bloom in High Park! Here are some photos from the soccer fields at the northern end of High Park where around 80-90% of the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

With fat green rounds buds emerging from the blossoms, as of April 10, High Park's cherry blossoms have started entering Stage 1 of the blossom development process.

As of Friday, April 14, the cherry blossom florets are deep pink in colour and the buds have started extending out. This indicates the blossoms are now in stage 3 of the bloom process.

Today, High Park had its annual prescribed burn, now called Biinaakzigewok Anishnaabeg, which means “the responsibility for a cleansing fire by all Native Peoples” in Anishinaabemowin. 🌳🔥🌳
The cherry blossoms are still tucked in their buds and have NOT started blooming YET. We are hoping the sunny weather will bring the first blossoms tomorrow and then peak bloom will follow later this week. We will update again tomorrow before 4pm.

The florets are extended and we’ve hit Stage 3! There are even a few buds that are at Stage 4. We are guessing that peak bloom will likely start sometime between May 2-8. A friendly reminder that during peak bloom, High Park will be car-free.
