Love this framing! With game design we’re always optimizing for relative difficulty which is a key ingredient for β€œfun”.

Not talked about enough: products live or die depending on the *feeling* of power they give to the user. Too complex and users don’t feel powerful, they feel stupid and overwhelmed. Too simple and users don’t feel powerful, they feel frustrated and boxed in.

Excited to share that I'll be speaking at the first official Cursor meetup in Lahore, Pakistan!. Every developer knows the drill: receive a Figma file, spend hours guessing edge cases, build it out, then get told "that's not what I meant." Static designs look perfect until you

Designed an interface as a filler to show what not to go for. Ended up liking it it more than the main one.

The tech world suddenly moved from β€œeveryone is a designer” to β€œeveryone is a developer”. Now we’ll probably understand each other better.

Wild seeing Cursor communities popping up like Figma did with Global cities based Friends of Figma. The wildest part is that most of those are driven by designers who were previously part of the Figma communities.

RT @ridd_design: AI shines a spotlight on everyone and reveals exactly how much agency/ambition they have.

Unpopular opinion: Minus the bugs, rounded corner chaos, and readability issues, the new iOS design is growing on me.

Despite the flaws, and there are many, I think this new Liquid Glass thing will work. And this is a beta anyway. In areas where it does work, it works great. iOS 7 was much different in beta and matured after 2-3 iterations (iOS 8-9). Readability and the obnoxious corner.

We started with 1 designer and 1 engineer combos making all β€œthings” on the internet just 2-3 decades ago. Then with the scale and complexity, we created specialized sub-roles. Now that gap is being filled by AI, it seems very likely that we’ll go back and merge them again.

We just dropped UX as a title at @Shopify. Same for Content Design. If you design, you're a Designer. If you write, you're now a Writer. Simpler. Better. (1/3).

Loving @Magicpathai . Might finally switch from v0 for UI. The generation speed seems a little too slow though. Is the paid version faster? @skirano.

said it before and i’ll say it again, if your invoices look like they were made by a graphic designer they get paid 35% slower. they need to look like they’re made on an IBM thinkpad with shitty enterprise software. argue with yourself i have years of research behind this.

Never knew this existed. Been creating 10+ color stop in gradients just to make them smoother.

TIL: easing gradients. your linear gradient + easing function = beautiful gradient transition. you can't use it natively right know, but there is a postCSS plugin for it (all links below ⬇️)

Just used @jittervideo for a client project. Super powerful! And the app is so well optimized that there was no lag despite my growing number of layers. The last time I used it was years ago and dismissed it. Some UX issues but highly recommended.

I love how AI (LLM’s) despite having all the knowledge in the world listens to your ideas and helps improve them. Some ideas are just the starting point to brainstorm on. Be like AI (at least sometimes).
