When religious leaders share times they were in a dark place, felt depressed, or lost faith, that is transformative: it tells the listener that if someone they admire went through that and made it out, then that darkness is no reason to feel bad about themself or to lose hope.

Our hearts are heavy with sorrow. Millions of us are mourning the passing of our beloved Prophet and President, Russell M. Nelson. He was a dear friend and a cherished leader.  His timeless teachings continue to guide us and help us find comfort amid suffering, especially in

Praying for the Savior's arms to wrap tightly around the victims and their families. The focus of all the hope I can gather on one of the saddest days I can remember. This moment demands our full support and love for them and our unity in grief.

If we are defined by what we do when no one's watching, @NelsonRussellM was the best. He sent thank you notes and personalized gifts for no occasion. He noticed people's needs and he met them for no reason other than to love. Yes an amazing leader, but also a deeply good human❤️‍🩹

This is a heartbreaking day for my LDS friends and neighbors. In my experience, the LDS folks I know are among the kindest, most Christlike folks I've ever met. And now they've endured the loss of their president and a deadly attack on a church. Horrible. God bless you all.

A tragic act of violence occurred today at a chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan. During Sunday worship services a gunman opened fire, and early reports indicate that multiple individuals were injured. We ask for cooperation with

This is how public school felt to us. Plus our kids were being shown explicit content on the bus. In 1 year of homeschool and 1/2 the time at normal school, they are 2-3 grades ahead on tests. We are not all-star teachers. They play regularly with friends and are SO happy.

Well worth a listen. A fierce castigation of evil, and no interest in berating an opponent during a tragedy. That takes us to a place of moral clarity. In that place, @SpencerJCox asks us to use our agency endowed by our creator. In PERSON. In daily life. In a divided country.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) tells Meet the Press that “cancer probably isn’t a strong enough word” to describe social media, which he says has contributed to “every single assassination and assassination attempt” in recent years. https://t.co/JEut95HsGD

My guess is that unless you a) live in Utah or b) follow politics very closely, you hadn’t heard the name “Spencer Cox” before this week. The country (and the world) now know the Utah governor’s name — due to the assassination of Charlie Kirk in the Beehive State on Wednesday.

In my experience, if you spend 30 min talking to a public figure you think is bad, you walk away with a better opinion of them. I've seen *NO* correlation between their political stance and whether they would give up their seat on a subway or check on a neighbor after a storm.

Here’s the full address just delivered by Utah’s @GovCox . It is, quite honestly, one of the most powerful speeches I’ve ever heard from a politician, or anyone, for that matter. Please sit down for 10 minutes and listen. You won’t regret it, I promise.

“I wanted Kirk to be safe for his sake, but I also wanted him to be safe for mine…. The same is true for Shapiro, for Hoffman, for Hortman, for Thompson, for Trump, for Pelosi, for Whitmer. We are all safe, or none of us are.”

The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in politics without fear of violence. To lose that is to risk losing everything.

See the circled truck? That’s Ladder 118 headed for the World Trade Center. The truck was full of heroes, Firefighters Vernon Cherry, Leon Smith, Joey Agnello, Robert Regan, Pete Vega, and Scott Davidson. This image showcases their final run, as they raced to the Twin Towers

In an act of bravery, Charlie faced crowds after receiving death threats. Why? He believed that when talking ends, violence begins. He showed the one way to stay together. Ask: "change my mind". The tension of ongoing debate has always been the only thing that can unite America.
Charlie Kirk: "When people stop talking, that's when you get violence." "What is so important to our country is to find our disagreements respectfully, because when people stop talking, that's when violence happens." All he wanted was peace and debate. https://t.co/NJrtAUrOWH

A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today.
