Successful alt text describes key elements and meaning in a way every user can understand ✅ Ask yourself: 🔹what is the visual element here? 🔹what info does it present? 🔹what is its purpose? 🔹if the image were removed, how would I describe it to convey the same info/purpose?

#PublishingTips ✏️ Have you considered using Alt Text - a short description that can be digitally attached to figures & images to convey to readers the nature or contents of the image, making it accessible to those that cannot read or see due to visual impairment or disability.

#PublishingTips Never forget a callout! Any item that needs to be inserted into your manuscript (figures, maps, boxes, etc) needs a callout (e.g. ‘Insert figure 1.1 here’). It should match the name of the item’s file exactly and highlighted so it can be easily spotted 😎
