Asharis and maturidis who say the way of the khalaf is more wise/knowledgeable than the way of the salaf, follow the salaf? Church fathers like Razi and his likes who doubt the hadith transmission in creed from the sahaba are Sunnis? The salaf never disagreed on creed.
The problem with the term “Salafi” is that it implies that not all Sunnis follow the Salaf. The Hanafis, Malikis etc.. people from Ashaari and Maturidi Aqeeda also all follow the Salaf. The Salaf had their differences and that’s ok. The term is just cultish.
