It was rare to experience rain to this level, only a handful of times during the years in Madīnah, a blessing.
This is today at the Islamic University of Madīnah, Saudi Arabia.
How Big is your Wardrobe?
Some of the Salaf only had 1 set of clothes they would wear repeatedly...do we end up going into excess above the requirements?
The Extraordinary Incident of Muhammad bin Yahya being accidentally buried alive...then making it out of his grave and returning home later that night!
Mentioned by Ibn Kathīr in al-Bidāyah wa Nihāyah from al-Khatīb al-Baghdādī
Sh.Zaid al-Madkhalī رحمه الله:
“Iblīs was expelled due to his refusal to do 1 prostration he was commanded with, so what therefore do you think will be the recompense of the one who refuses 5 prayers every day & night, which is 34 obligatory prostrations..”

A small reminder (from some old recordings); Shaikh al-Albānī رحمه الله advised to keep the mus-haf (copy of Qur’ān) on top of other books - not to put it underneath a pile...in maintaining etiquette with the Qur’ān.
Allah have mercy upon al-Imām al-Albānī...
“The Prophet (ﷺ) would never find fault with food. If he desired it, he would eat, & if he disliked it, he would leave it.” [Bukhārī & Muslim]
Be careful not to allow the tongue to slip into criticising food, remember the blessing of Allāh upon you…
Be careful where & who you take knowledge from - especially now in

From the amazing examples of real striving for knowledge, I discovered yesterday an elder uncle of ours travels 1.5 hours return train journey from his town, then a walk time of 1h 40mins total from station to masjid & back to attend the jumu’ah & evening class...every week.
There’s a simple principle in our religion: Worship is “tawqīfī” meaning it’s all harām unless you have evidence for it’s validity.
So don’t allow someone to say to you: “What’s your evidence 15th Sha’bān is not special?”
Rather we say, ”What is your authentic evidence it is?”.
An example of the honesty, trustworthiness, & nobility of the Salaf…
Ibn Sīrīn رحمه الله was offered to be sneaked out of prison but he refused!

The Weeping of Imām al-Awzā’ī رحمه الله in his Night Prayer...
Consider....when was the last time a person even prayed the night prayer let alone wept in it?
There is great benefit using ones time reading into the biographies of the Salaf & great Imāms of the past...
1/ I was honoured to have met with Shaikh Sālih al-Fawzān حفظه الله تعالى today in Riyādh after Jumu’ah at his masjid; The Shaikh greeted us kindly, I informed him that we attended the Dawra with Shaikh ‘Abdullāh ad-Dhafīrī حفظه الله in Hafr al-Bātin, & asked for an advice…
Mannerisms with the Qur’ān...avoid this common habit:
"It is Impermissible to 'rock & sway' back & forward when reading the Qur'an - that is from habits of the People of the Book".

When it comes to Knowledge be warned from the 2 “Meems” (the letter م)..
المستحي - being the Shy one.

Questions about handshaking due to Coronavirus have arisen, I rang the Muftī Sh. ‘Abdul’Azīz āle Shaikh this morning & said:
“Regarding Coronovirus, are we allowed to refrain from handshaking when giving salām?”
He said: “Verbal (salām) is sufficient...Inshā’Allāh”.

I was actually able to go inside and see my exact room I lived in for 6 years whilst at Madīnah University.
It was under renovation so no-one was currently occupying it.
Follow on tweet shows what it looked like when I was living in it all those years ago - memories!
Do not deceive yourselves with hopes and ambitions you are not striving for, rather work hard, strive, & put your trust in Allāh.

Make up any missed days from last year, start focusing on Qur’ān if you have been negligent of it throughout the year, start learning the Fiqh of Ramadān in order to fulfil your obedience accurately…

The 4 Things Allāh created with His Hands
Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما said:

Then He said for the rest of creation, “Be” and it was.”

As the scholars have advised, in times of adversity we stop to reflect on ourselves, our shortcomings, our flaws....& make it a means of rectification.
If you’ve fallen into sinning, then remember it can be the eventual means for your salvation if you react correctly.
