Mid-season @QMJHL regional rankings! Been a refreshing change to cover one region in-depth — this draft-eligible class as been so fun to scout. Going to branch out over the next few weeks before revisiting my takes in late March. #2025NHLDraft Let me know what you think!

Juraj Slafkovský is turning a corner. He’s turning into a true play-driver. What. A. Play. #GoHabsGo

It can’t be understated how important role stability is for players of any age. When Hutson joined, Matheson was thrust into a much more defence-oriented role than he had previously occupied, while facing the league’s best forwards. Took some time, but he got there eventually.

$6M AAV for a defenceman who does literally everything asked of him. Fanbase turned on him after struggling to adapt to a different role entirely last year, but now that he’s done that, this is a steal of a deal. Mike Matheson is the kind of veteran you keep. #GoHabsGo

Thankfully, the modern NHL is leaning heavily away from slap shots. For those of you who’ve never watched the Rocket since his arrival, you’re going to love this kid.

Never seen a defenceman with a funnier wrist/slap shot discrepancy than Adam Engström. Gorgeous wrister, horrendous slapper.

"I'm a one-man breakout." I sat down with Ryan Lin to unpack a draft-eligible season that has seen him push the boundaries of his offensive game @eliteprospects 🔗: https://t.co/Nnbx3AxB37

Such a small detail, but the small step to the left Slafkovsky performs off the brake here create this goal. Slaf’s always been good at changing his pace to create lanes, but this I haven’t seen often from him before. He used to just… stop. #GoHabsGo https://t.co/pcjJKDxJJg

So many small details done right. His ability to feel outlets in his blind spots with his back to the play and two guys charging him is a work of art.

If you’re a young defenceman with below-avg defensive skating looking to improve your retrievals and pinches, watch Noah Dobson. Looks like he’s operating at a low pace at all times, but it’s because his positional sense is as close to perfect as it gets. Barely needs to skate.

Contact skills feat. Ryan Leonard: -Stops skating, extends reach — baits Bouchard into closing the gap - as soon as he feels EB’s hand, *lets the puck go* and uses his elbow to knock him off balance - separation created ✅ backhand deke ✅ #ALLCAPS
