Cycling includes mostly men who speed (doing more than 20mph) joined recently by heavy battery powered hire bikes plus cargo bikes. In #Hackney many of us no longer feel safe walking in #LondonFields, #BroadwayMarket also on the #Canal towpath! #r4today

Just over a week until our AGM. If you use #Londonfields and want to be involved in its care and development you need an active User Group. So please come along and see how you can be actively involved. We do tree watering, litter-picking, biodiversity work. Please get involved.

The shrinking park budget effectively subsidises licensed trade, markets and takeaways that can use park as an open air eatery BUT don’t contribute to the clean up costs. Each expansion of these commercial interests worsens the issue. Simply reducing clearance is not a solution.

At present parks like #LondonFields are paying twice for bin clearance - big bins by refuse truck; smaller bins by park staff. Real cost savings to be made here. And to reduce damage and risk of refuse trucks driving across in the morning.

Thank you @eastlondonlines for following up on the issue of reduced park litter clearance. Making parks less welcoming is a false economy. physical and mental health affected by access to green spaces. We protect the former by maintaining the latter.

There are no other words for it. #Oxbow has been trashed. Not much left but bare earth, fencing and paths. Once a refuge for Nature. No more. #LeaValley
