Love this idea.
Vocab/writing tip from @margaretmckeow2:. Donโt ask kids to write a sentence with a new vocabulary word - they can fake it! . E.g., does โI feel cozyโ show understanding? . Instead try having them complete a sentence stem: โMy cat looks cozy whenโฆโ which requires more thinking!

Today I'm feeling a different sort of nervousness & anxiety. I am facilitating a workshop for secondary educators at PATHWAYS FOR SUCCESS, which reaches beyond my K-8 audience for sure. Hopefully they don't steal my lunch money, or stuff me into a locker ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ @TVDSBLiteracy

Writing ๐ค .Dugald Cruikshank was a bitter, meddlesome neighbour on Killarney Lane in Braemar, Scotland. When he disappeared suddenly in 1908, Bramemar villagers always feared his wrath would one day come. and over 100 years later, his return to Portree House was unforgettable.

My heart sings when I routinely watch my 9-year old look for opportunities to write at every turn - campfire and @PostMalone tunes create the conditions for journal writing. Who knew? ๐๐

The @TVDSBLiteracy team is grateful for the PD Day today so we can support teachers in grades 4-8 with their evidence-based instruction of Foundational Skills. Specifically we will focus on building morphological awareness and vocabulary knowledge.

This is so good to read. I'm glad you had a great tour. That's a long stretch!.
On the plane heading home after a 23 day school tour of Alberta (and Golden BC). 23 schools, 68 presentations, around 8,000 students, and drove close to 8,000 km. I'm tired but happy. Wonderful school after wonderful school, dedicated teachers and engaged students.
