My mother died when I was 4. During her last months, knowing she was dying, she knit jackets for my father and me. They are the only things from her I own. Today I gave them to my son and grandson. Somewhere I know she’s smiling.

Started a new story. The 'planner' in me outlined the first eight chapters (and added two more as I started writing) plus eleven more that aren't in sequence yet. There is no 'wrong' way to write but I believe in plotting. If I fail to plan I plan to fail!

It was always bittersweet! Happy to see them move forward, looking to the summer, but sad to see them go.
The last day is always tough. We build these tiny communities that feel like families. We pour love and patience into them. We watch them grow. Then we send them on, hoping that they will keep growing into the amazing humans we know they can be.

One of my grandsons just saw it on Sunday and loved it! He was also the first kid to read my contemporary revisit of Anne called Sam. Your students could compare and contrast the book and the play.

I just googled 'how long after death can the thumb of a corpse unlock a cell phone.' Answer, at least a day if kept on ice. This, of course, means I'm either a killer or a writer.
