Unsolicited advice to a querying author to just give up and self-publish is rude. Self-publishing is not a "lesser-than" option (I'm an indie author too) but to turn your nose up at someone's goals just because they differ from your own path? Ugh. I don't get it.

Can we stop putting down romantasy as a genre? Just because something is in a fantasy setting doesn't make it unrefined fluff without deeper meaning. I've written fantasy since I was a kid because I had trouble relating to the world around me. My heart & soul goes on every page.

It seems like so many agents now either make a full request really fast or not at all. It’s hard not to get discouraged when you look at query timelines, see that short window pass you by, and realize you may never hear back from that agent.

I know what it’s like to feel sad over my own journey when I was in the throes of querying and people got good news, but I made it a point to cheer others on because one day it would be my turn. Bitterness will eat a hole in your soul if you let it.
I can't stress this enough—there will always be someone doing better than you. If you're bitter about people getting agented while querying you'll be bitter on sub when others get book deals. An agent won't change this. It's all internal work and accepting you're on your own path
