This ignores context. Goku relied on Potara because it overrides being weakened in a shrunken state. The guide says Vegitoโs power doesnโt change, even as candy. And the fact Goku is shocked that he returned to normal just proves that he was referring to in Buu's body.
Dragon Ball fans legitimately cannot read Goku says this before realizing they've been weakened... because later Toriyama dedicated entire PAGES to Goku and Vegeta realizing they've been weakened by having Buu obviously be aware that Goku is weakened that he doesn't yet know
